A sneak peak into our new home

You asked....so here it is!

This architectural style is called Aeroplane Craftsmen (history here).  Built in the early 1920's here's what some of our friends at neighborhoodpm say about it:

This stunning Aeroplane Craftsman home is located right off Huntington Boulevard minutes from Community Hospital, City Hall and Fresno Pacific. The home features original windows, golden hardwood floors, and a large covered front porch. The home highlights built-ins, wainscoting, and updated bathrooms that have been preserved in keeping with the character of the home. The kitchen includes updated counter tops, a breakfast nook, a free-standing gas range/oven and beautiful views of the private backyard with lush trees. The 16,000 square foot lot features fruit trees and mature landscaping making it the perfect retreat. Enjoy ample storage with an unfinished room, large basement and detached garage. The laundry room includes a newer washer/dryer set. This grand house is loaded with charming details and elegant touches that combine the unique craftsman style with modern amenities and luxury.

enjoy the sneak peak.....

we renovated this place from top to bottom.  It DID NOT look like anything like this when we bought it.  It was unlivable....but now...fully restored!  Yay for revitalization!! (a word with practical and theological significance)

You may be wondering....."Joe and Heidi....why invest so much effort and cash into such an old house?"  and I'd totally understand if old homes aren't you're thing.  But for me....I grew up in a 100 year old Victorian home and there's a certain amount of enjoyable history, art, and charm that comes with character homes that we both really love.  They also seem to cater to the handy types...the ones that like restoring things, especially things involving wood....and for me, this is very welcome.

Anyway....we feel like this place is a gift from God...and it was a real joy to restore (especially working alongside the many friends and family who shed blood and sweated abundantly to make this place come alive).  We are now praying for the renters who will enjoy and love this house as much as we do, for many years to come.
