What is Laziness?

Inactivity? ....no, that seems to be a result
Apathy? ....maybe, but I know people in my life who work like crazy in jobs they don't care about
Boredom?  ...yes, getting closer, but not quite right

Could Laziness be this:  physical disobedience against "the good".  Or to be clearerish:  Laziness is when we allow ourselves to disobey what God knows is good for us.

A part of "the good" I speak of, is true happiness.  This is happiness found not in material things.  "No created good whatsoever is going to make you and me truly happy," says Hans Boersma.

"The goal of a life in accord with virtue, is happiness" says the fourth-century dude Gregory of Nyssa

Augustine (my favorite smart dude) says "Is not the happy life that which all desire, which indeed no one fails to desire?"

Thomas Aquinas (another old buddy) says "Happiness is called man's supreme good, because it is the attainment or enjoyment of the supreme good"

John Calvin says that the enjoyment of God's benefits "clear and pure from every vice...is the acme of happiness"  

Boersma says, "only one thing fulfills our desire, and that one thing is fellowship with, life in, the Triune God himself"

So what is Laziness?  Maybe laziness is when we refrain from what is truly good for us, life with God, in favor for something else:  apathy, boredom, sloth, tiredness or something else.  Maybe Laziness is disobedience against God in the manner of refusing what He knows what makes us truly happy.  He offers things like knowledge for our minds, healthy food for our bodies and work for our souls.
