It's the organization I worked for as a counselor before moving to Canada. We worked with young men ages 16-24 who have criminal records, gang-affiliations, and have dropped out of school. It began in 1993 and since then we have placed over 1,700 gang members into jobs in 400 businesses, with an about 85% success and only 8% recidivism.
Lots of stories to tell about Hope Now....love this organization...but just to highlight one thing that you may like to know. There's a feature length film coming out about our story:
The film was written by a friend of mine and was shot entirely in Fresno, California and some of which was filmed in the very neighborhood I grew up in.
Those were good days....
