Mountaineering trip to Mount Cheam & Mount Lady

Feeling a bit tired.

Woke up at 4:50am. Left by 5. Picked up mountain master Steve at 6am. Mcdonalds at 7. And on the hunt for summits by 9. And, for the next 9 hours, we would walk consistently with only short breaks to attempt to do two winter ascents of remote mountains in Chillliwack.

Mount Cheam is only a VERY long walk up a steep snow slope (seen here on left hand side of photo).

And, Mount Lady has lots of technical climbing with many no falling allowed zones...perfect to us!

All in all we drove over 300km, hiked and climbed for 9 hours straight, and did 11,000 feet of elevation (5500 up and 5500 down) over difficult terrain in less than ideal snow conditions but had GREAT, rather, SPECTACULAR weather.

We summitted Cheam

...but bailed just below the summit of Lady due to the way that deteriorating snow conditions decreased our safety margin to an unacceptable degree at the crux pitch (not represented in photo...this is us trying to find another way to the summit after bailing).

Here are some pics of the day. You can click on them to see them in a larger format...

This was such a great adventure in the mountains. We will be back (potentially next weekend to complete unfinished business on Mount Lady if the conditions improve and now that we know what to expect, we can bring the exact gear necessary)

These are such good days!

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I enjoy seeing websites that understand the value of providing a prime resource for free. I truly loved reading your post. Thanks!
