Trip Report: West Lion, Vancouver

It's early...way to early. 4am for Dave a bit later for me...but we're up and ready to go. The air is crisp..and we are excited.

We donned our mountaineering boots, gulped water and then we march towards the West Lion with gusto. Only taking a couple 2 minute breaks.

Finally, 2 hours later...lots of elevation gain...we're here:

We've been on the top of the West Lion (largest summit on the left hand side) before. It's really not that hard. 4th class with a few low 5th class moves in there to spice it up. It's beautiful.

We hit snow...an hour before this picture was taken. The climbing is mildly steep in sections...no big deal at all.... the snow was soft which made kicking steps no problem at all. The decent was straight forward...I only had to self arrest once after my boot hit a patch of ice.

These are good days...
