Scrambling - Mount Hanover

Went for a nice little jaunt into the mountains with James. We went to do a scramble named Mount Hanover. There are a few ways to access it...but we chose to go through the Deeks Lake, Brunswick Lake, and Hanover Lake approach.

along the way...there were beautiful lakes to see. We were tempted to swim in them....but after crossing one river without socks or shoes....our frozen feet told us that swimming in the lake...would not be pleasant.

accessing the summit was quite involved. It was class 4, for sure....with short sections of low fifth class climbing (to those non-climbers out there...this means: don't fall). It also didn't help that the gully, which we were using to access the summit was TERRIBLE ROCK (chossy, mossy, broken) and the gully was filled with a block of ice 10 feet deep and 6-15 feet wide. To climb it...we had to have one foot on the ice and one foot smearing on the rock.

But...no worries. We summitted, and had a good time doing it

All in all...the hike took 10.5 hours with 5700 feet elevation gain. It took about 5.5 hours to get to the top (an hour of which was in the gully on Mount Hanover).

Not a bad day in the mountains, I'd say.

Wowzers! Stunning beauty all along the way.
By the way - you know that hike you're suggesting a bunch of us "mixed generations" do together . . . . . can the lowest common denominator pick the venue? I'd like to be a good girl and something like this would not bring that out. :)

Wonderful to see the terrain you and James traversed!!

Thanks Joe,

When someone writes an paragraph he/she maintains the plan of a user in his/her
brain that how a user can be aware of it. Therefore that's why this piece of
writing is perfect. Thanks!
