Camping at Castle Crags State Park

Castle Crags State park is a special place.  It's is located conveniently along the 2,650 mile trek from Mexico to Canada known as the Pacific Coast Trail.  An AMAZING trail that our family would like to do one day.  The Sacramento River flows right through the park and the park is nestled under the shadow of Mount Shasta and other beautiful summits.

Enjoy the picture journey of our families camping and hiking adventure!

Never underestimate the power of a fire.  There's something about it that no matter where we are across the globe....we feel at home.

Our kids do so well on the road -- camping and climbing. For years we didn't have awesome gear for our 4 kids...just blankets from home.  These days, with many dozens of nights under the starts each year as a family...we finally invested in sleeping bags for our kids.  They love them!

Our kids love hiking.  The older ones can hike for HOURS.  We are so proud of the way the trails have taught them to persevere.  The trail is a great teacher.

After a day of hiking...our kids are always worn out.  We are so thankful that they sleep as well in a tent as they do at home.  The key to this was to start camping with them early on.  They have never had a Fall/Summer/Spring without camping.  This was our secret weapon.

These are good days.
