E can read!...and do other random things

Ok, maybe she can't technically read yet...but she sure is using her reading strategies (I can't help it, I'm an elementary school teacher at heart). I don't know any 4 month old who has used the reading strategy of "previewing" the book before...until now:

checkin' out the cover

looking at the pictures

seeing how the words match the pictures

yup, it tastes like cardboard

the end.

Other things E can now do:
- make farting noises with her lips (started on Friday) -- wonder who she learned that from...
- survive a weekend at Anvil Island with 65 teens and college students (she had a blast)
- pee on the toilet when I say "pee pee" -- no joke, she did it for the first time tonight (and I practiced with her 4 times today). We've decided to give this infant potty training thing a try (thanks to Debbi Tovsrud for passing along To Train Up a Child all those years ago! :) This one time could be a fluke, but we're going to keep trying.

Keep going on the infant potty training. At least it's fun for you! Moses still goes 8 out of 10 times we try.

P.S. Love those big baby cheeks!

Sarah - awww yeah!

Liesel - I think of you and Moses on that tiny toilet when I'm holding Elizabeth over our toilet. Tempted to buy the small one, but I think we'll stick with the adult one for now. She went almost every time I put her on the pot today, but she still wet 5 of her cloth diapers...one day she'll get it!

Wow...its so fun seeing Elizabeth, she is sitting up so well, Ryan is almost there, and it seems crazy that he will sit soon!! So, I am wondering about the book that you mentioned...To train a child... do you recommend it???

Hi Alicha! I'm reading the book right now...I'm enjoying it, though the philosophy/theology is rooted in the Amish way of living (so you'll get some really conservative thinking)...but there is a lot I still agree with, and infant potty training seems to be one of the things I'm giving a try -- why not start now? It's not stressful for me...I just plop E on the toilet before and after every nap, and after eating...nothing new to really "add" to the routine, you know? Here's a link to Debi Pearl's additional response to the chapter on potty training (she and her husband co-wrote the book) : http://www.nogreaterjoy.org/articles/general-view/archive/1996/june/07/potty-training-answered/. If you want a more expert opinion, ask Debbi Tovsrud, I'm sure she'd be happy to give you her thoughts as well!

I hardly comment, however i did some searching and wound up here "E can read!...and do other random things".

And I do have a few questions for you if it's
allright. Could it be simply me or does it look like some of these comments appear as if they are written by brain dead visitors?
:-P And, if you are posting at other social sites,
I'd like to follow everything new you have to post.
Could you make a list of the complete urls of your social pages
