Lingering Grief

They say that in grief to let yourself feel whatever you feel.

A friend of mine recently asked me how I was doing.
I responded like this:
"You know the ache you get after a substantial surgery. My ache lingers....but its a livable ache..."

In grief...if I feel an ache...let myself feel that ache, right?
Screw that.

Who want's to live with an ache?
Not really hurting...not really well...the ache just sits annoyingly in between.

So am I to let myself feel whatever I feel?
OK fine. I consent. I will let myself feel the ache...I won't run from it or ignore it....

But I also won't accept it.
The ache is unacceptable.
It is not as it ought to be.

I trust the one who says,
"I heard a voice thunder from the Throne: "Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They're his people, he's their God. He'll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good—tears gone, crying gone, pain gone—all the first order of things gone." The Enthroned continued, "Look! I'm making everything new"(Rev. 21:3-5)

Keep trusting that One, Joe. The New maker.
As a bona fide Creator it appears he is not really into repairs, adjustments, fix-ups or rebuilding. He just makes everything new. And clearly loves the task. Like an excited child with the exclamation Look!

Hey NP,

but may I humbly suggest he doen't say "LOOK, I make all new things" either. He says, "I make all things new".

A fully resotored created order, the biblical perspective of shalom...is seen here, I think.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Joe

I was referring to the words in the translation you used " Look!" I had never seen it before in that light.
Reading the words of God making all things new, the old order is gone, just took my mind on the route that it did.
Not disagreeing with you at all. Hope it didn't come across that way

Hah. Oh no prob NP! I follow you now...

Thanks for the clarification! And it's kinda cool to note that "Behold" or "Look" is one of the, if not the, most used comands in the bible.

Thanks for your good words!
