Weird sensation...fingers on gums which aren't yours,
A bit moist... gums with no teeth. Spit is now dripping down my wrist.
It reminds me of a time when I was a kid...at my great grandpa's house. He walked into the bathroom, put his fingers in his mouth...and pulled out his teeth....I COMPLETELY FREEKED!!!!!! Teeth aren't supposed to come out.....then, he smiled at me....not cool.
But now...as Elizabeth chomps on my thumb....I'm noticing that I'm not freeked out....and in fact, I kinda think her being toothless is somehow cute.
the point: having kids changes your perspective.

Reminds me of my Dad's last hospitalization. 4 yr. old Varsha came for a visit after Dad had eaten. I'd just cleaned his dentures and was popping them back into his mouth when suddenly Dad and I caught Varsha watching in wide eyed wonder. Neither Dad or I said a word, but with big smiles and a twinkle in our eyes we replayed the exchange before I explained the removable teeth to Varsha. We laughed so hard! This is one of my favourite last memories of my Dad. Thanks for sparking it!
