Today was simple....

It doesn't take much to have a simple day. We need those sometimes....

First task: Exercise. It's nice out...so, cycling sounds good. 50km (UBC loop, marine drive, Iona Beach and back) lots of rolling hills...fun.

Second Task: Represent the new Dodgers shirt we got from Oma and Opa. GO DODGERS!

Third task: Take more pictures of our daughter so the 10 people who visit this blog will come back.

Fourth Task: Go to the Beach and CHILL

and that's our simple day.

That sounds like a great bike route. But where exactly is Iona Beach? I think it's in Richmond, but don't know exactly where. Were you able to stay on bike routes most of the time?

And Elizabeth is beautiful. And getting more so with each photo op.

Diane - it is a great (challenging) bike route! Iona Beach is near YVR. You take a bike exit right after crossing the Arthur Lang Bridge into Richmond. We took bike routes the entire way - here's a google map of our loop: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=1475+Laburnum+St,+Vancouver,+BC+V6J+3W4,+Canada&daddr=NW+Marine+Dr+to:SW+Marine+%26+70th+to:SW+Marine+Dr+to:Unknown+road+to:SW+Marine+Dr+to:Adera+St+to:Adera+St+to:Adera+%26+43rd+to:Angus+%26+43rd+to:Angus+Dr+to:Angus+Drive+%26+Matthews+Ave+to:Matthews+Ave+%26+Cypress+to:Cypress+%26+Broadway+to:Cypress+%26+4th+Ave+W+to:Cypress+St+to:Cypress+St+to:1475+Laburnum+St,+Vancouver,+BC+V6J+3W4,+Canada&hl=en&geocode=FTDX7wId0tuo-CmpXAxLNXKGVDGchqeByav5AA%3BFZ_s7wId0mmn-A%3BFeTc7gId9_-o-CkhOULRlHSGVDG-NXH2mccQ1Q%3BFRnR7gIdPgGp-A%3BFfoc7wIdJr-n-A%3BFRnc7gId5_-o-A%3BFXvl7gIdNvqo-A%3BFf447wIdPPuo-A%3BFYM67wIdSfuo-Clp1RSwf3OGVDHqMKV3vXPzfw%3BFeM67wIdD-qo-Cl7YP6RfnOGVDHqWYmmDB_bTQ%3BFaNP7wId_-yo-A%3BFeWE7wIdzfKo-CmjrLcbmHOGVDEobfKSsn-AUg%3BFRuD7wIdfuao-Cnpr9F9mHOGVDF8Jdk0wWoi1A%3BFZO07wIdmOio-Ck5QaxCt3OGVDF2Tn_13tQwtg%3BFZDF7wIdH-mo-CnhVDwOtnOGVDGC5eEqLJZr5w%3BFSDe7wIdLuqo-A%3BFSDe7wIdLuqo-A%3BFTDX7wId0tuo-CmpXAxLNXKGVDGchqeByav5AA&mra=ls&via=3,6,7,10,16&doflg=ptk&sll=49.22403,-123.219352&sspn=0.007638,0.019011&ie=UTF8&ll=49.264668,-123.161888&spn=0.061051,0.152092&z=13

Alicha - thanks! We think so too. :)

Thanks Heidi! Maybe Dave and I will do that route this Saturday. I average about 20 kph on the bike, so it should take about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. You are probably much much much faster than me though.

I think you guys will enjoy it! But no, I'm not much faster, really. I may be in decent running shape, but not fit at all for cycling. It took us about 3 hours with a water break at Iona Beach and a pit stop for some powerbars at the Chevron station at Granville & SW Marine. FYI - the uphill slogs are: the end of Spanish Banks up to UBC, a few hills along SW Marine, Arthur Lang Bridge, and a gradual hill from 70th to 37th, then it's all downhill to Cornwall. Joe usually does this loop in 1.5 hours. Goes to show how slow I am! :)
