Thank you for your support

It was never just about doing an Ironman.  Sure...that was important, and for Joe, a dream since he was a kid.  But that dream was only part of a bigger dream.

This was the dream: To take 365 days to swim-bike-and run, 2 times per day, 6 days and 15 hours per week....together.

How could we get our two little kids involved?
Would we grow to resent each other's athletic weakness (because it could "hold us back")?
Would we grow closer as a family?
Would we grow closer to Jesus?
How could this investment integrate into our vocation as pastors?

These were just some of the questions we faced.  There were more....we'll spare you.

The truth is....if you don't push through limits, you set them.  We have a lot of limits:  time-money-small kids-crazy vocation- challenges in our marriage- challenges in our parenting.  There are more...But again, we'll spare you.

We have many limits...but could we push through them, together?  Could we see this dream realized?

Yes. Together. We believed we could...and we did.

In the coming days there will be more blogs about some of the things God taught us this past year, but tonight...we just wanted to say: thank you for your support.  The best support for a camera is a tripod.  The best support for us...is you.  You have held us up, cared for us, prayed for us, encouraged us, and pushed us past "our limits".  Thank you, friends.

Here are a few pics and videos of the day - Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2013

Our story got profiled in an Official Pre-Race Ironman Video.
Take a look at our clip...1:19-2:32:

A video montage our friend Joan made for us!  LOVED this.  Thanks Joan!

A finish line kiss.
It symbolizes, for us, togetherness

Future blogs we plan on doing in the coming days (if there is a blog you're interested in us writing about...be in touch, and we'll do it!):

  • How do you train with small children? Strategics and learning from our mistakes.
  • Having big dreams and why we need them.
  • Full Race Report of Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2013.
  • How this year of Ironman training impacted our family and marriage.
  • Togetherness matters.  What we've learned from Ironman.

Now....we're off for a Rockclimbing road trip to City of Rocks Idaho.  A week of climbing in the sun awaits!

Thanks for your support, friends.
