We were supposed to be climbing

The goal was to take our little nephews and nieces climbing.  It didn't go well.

What do you do when life doesn't go the way it's supposed to?  Are you the person who shuts down, gets in a funk, or starts blaming others?  I've been that person.

If the mountains have taught me anything over the years it's that....the best adventures are on the other side of failed plans -- that's probably true of life as well.

We hoped to go climbing...and ended up throwing snowballs.  Not a bad finish to the day.

American Thanksgiving in Canada

Yep...its Thanksgiving where we're from!

Our families are hanging out together...eating turkey, watching football, playing football during half-time, and eating BIG homemade pies

And actually...we miss that!  BUT...I'm finding some things to be thankful for here, in the great white north.

Like...

A fresh blanket of snow to wake up to in the morning.

and a little girl who wants to play with us

a hot wife and a great mother to EJW

the students of Granville Chapel (and yes, their parents too!)

and a lot more....but that's a start :)

These are good days....

Trip Report: Mountaineering - Golden Ears

Adventure is just 1 thought away. Our thought: hike 24 kilometers, ascend 5000 feet...to summit one of the coolest summits on the northern skyline: Golden Ears covered in spring mountaineering conditions.

It took us 12 hours of constant effort with my buddy Dave...but we got-er-done. It was an amazing day. Check out the pics and slide show:

Thursday Mornings

We look forward to Thursday mornings. We typically work till 11pm on Thursdays, so we don't go in the office until around lunch time. So, the morning block of the day is coffee shop time! Walking to the coffee shop is SO relaxing. It's a cold, crystal clear winter morning....our bodies are getting excited for coffee and cinnamon rolls. Our favorite coffee shop is called The Coffee Lounge. Its wonderful. The owner, Harlin, is a great guy who has established the kind of coffee house I like: good coffee, artistic environment, and comfy chairs. I spend way to much money here...

Snow in Vancouver! (UPDATED)

We love snow! It is beautiful and it is fun. Plain and simple. This is our 4runner before we left for work. Here is Heidi, working in our office on a beautiful day.

...and apparently it is supposed to keep dumping! SKIING TIME!! Can someone start singing the Hallelujah Chorus?

That's a day's wrap!
