Why I'm not drinking coffee

Some of you know, about a month ago, I stopped drinking coffee. For people that know me...this is HUGE. I drink it all the time. In the morning, when I go to work, when I work, when I take walks, when I sit in meetings, and after the sun sets.

The thing was...I didn't think I was addicted...because I can drink coffee all day long...and still fall right asleep. No problem.

But a month ago, I was starting to feel bloated all the time...so I thought that caffeine may have something to do with it....so to see if it was that....I cut it out of my diet, completely.

Sure enough....for the next 4 days...my body and brain were totally wrecked. I felt like I had a 4 day, severe hangover. Then, for the next three weeks...I had a lingering headache, present at every waking moment.

I realized something. That in my life:

So here's my conundrum: I don't really want to be addicted to anything, but I don't drink coffee for the caffeine...I drink it for the taste. I truly enjoy the taste of coffee.

So pretty soon, I am going to introduce coffee back into my diet...with some changes. I think I'll just drink decaf (which has a bit less caffeine) and only drink it once a day.

A good compromise? I don't know...but it's the best I can do untill someone produces a caffeine free coffee bean which has a similar taste to Pete's Dark Roast (yummm)

Mondays are for rest

Hey....still tired....but the good kind of tired...the tired which reminds you that you've done something.

This morning...devos at the coffee lounge were in order. So good. Hazelnut Latte's, reading and journaling were our morning existence.

Now, we are off to lunch for round two of our day. Objective: something outside (its BEAUTIFUL) combined with a noble dose of activity.

Heidi is now 22.5 weeks into the pregnancy and we will post photos later today on her progress. She is doing really well, feeling strong in between occasional bouts of throwing up. This has been a CRAZY summer (i.e. took 25 people to a poor village in China for almost three weeks and directed a camp for 190ish people in the gulf islands while somehow keeping our daily work for Granville Chapel intact) ...and its amazing to see her take her pregnancy in stride. The ONLY reason this summer happened was because God is gracious and compassionate, full of mercy and grace.

more pics soon...

Thursday Mornings

We look forward to Thursday mornings. We typically work till 11pm on Thursdays, so we don't go in the office until around lunch time. So, the morning block of the day is coffee shop time! Walking to the coffee shop is SO relaxing. It's a cold, crystal clear winter morning....our bodies are getting excited for coffee and cinnamon rolls. Our favorite coffee shop is called The Coffee Lounge. Its wonderful. The owner, Harlin, is a great guy who has established the kind of coffee house I like: good coffee, artistic environment, and comfy chairs. I spend way to much money here...
