Everyone needs to know how to swim

There is something empowering about being able to swim.
Water no longer becomes a source of fear...but instead a source of fun.
From fear to fun!  Imagine that.  The very thing you were afraid of becomes the very thing you long to do.

I love swimming.  I especially love open water swimming.  Lakes and oceans....I love swimming!

Recently I went open water swimming with a buddy of mind, DB.  He took us to Buntzen Lake.

I was SO EXCITED to go.

Dave chuckled at my extreme excitement and just smiled

I loved swimming at Buntzen Lake because there are no motor boats allowed.
i.e. there is no likelihood of doing a tango with a propellor.
Propellors are nasty dance partners.

From one end of the lake to the other is 2800 meters making it a round trip of 5600 meters (5.6km or 3.5 miles).  We didn't go the full distance but swam for an 1:15, to put in a good effort.

After a nice swim in PERFECT lake temperature (no wetsuit needed), we ate some lunch under the sun

If you are reading this blog and its summer time where you live....
Go swimming this summer.
Do it!  ...trust me, you'll be blessed.

Idaho is hot.....water is wet....and hot.

After a day of rock climbing in 38 degree (100+ degree) hotness.
We were hot.
So hot (insert Zoolander voice, here).

So we decided to go swimming!
Beautifully wet and refreshing water promised to cool us down.

We jumped in! ...to discover:

It's a hot spring.

The water...and us....were hot.
let me put this plainly: Not.Refreshing.

We still had fun though!

These are good days...

Our kids LUUUV swimming

Every Monday the kids go swimming.
Well, truth is...they get wet but they're not quite swimming yet

They LOVE it though

Josiah digs the constant attention he gets for 1 hour straight.  We love this less (it's kinda stressful watching/holding him for 1 hour straight.  You can't take your eye/hand off, even for a second!)

and Elizabeth loves to play with the toys and float around

We are thinking about putting her into swimming lessons before the ski season starts and she starts taking lessons up on the local ski hill

After swimming is done....it's a short play time while we wait for one of us to finish up swimming laps in the 50 meter pool

On the walk home...this is usually what happens.  Swimming somehow does that to us all!

These are good days

This girl LOVES the water.  She hyper cried when it was time to go.  She cried like a crying fish....wet all over.  Anyways....

Swimming - Lots of it

Is there anything more relaxing? Not sure. Swimming, reading by the pool, chatting...so good. Yeah...we've done other stuff....hanging out with family, cycling some great routes and running great trails....but seriously....is there anything better than this?

Nope.

These are good days...
